Liz Inness is a physical therapist with expertise in neurorehabilitation, an Affiliate Scientist with the KITE Research Institute, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Health Network (Toronto Rehab – UHN), and an Assistant Professor (status-only) within the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto. Dr. Inness’ work has a strong focus on advancing rehabilitation practice through clinical-research partnerships. Her research and knowledge translation activities have led to the development and uptake of new approaches to assess and train reactive balance control to reduce falls, and clinical programs and implementation toolkits to support participation in aerobic exercise and physical activity after stroke. She co-developed the Community Balance & Mobility Scale. She co-chaired the update of the Canadian Stroke Community-based Exercise Recommendations 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she supported the development of Toronto Rehab – UHN’s framework for virtual care and co-developed the Toronto Rehab Telerehab Toolkit. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous awards, most recently the University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.
